Head of Finance & Operations

Wushu Studios are looking for an experienced and capable person to manage financial planning and operational processes across our growing company. Working with the Studio Director and other senior staff, you will be responsible for coordinating monthly and quarterly financial reports and projections, maintaining budget plans across multiple projects with various external partners, implementing and improving operational and human resource procedures and policies, and helping ensure that our people-focused business continues to operate efficiently.

Along with relevant accounting and operations expertise, you will also have relevant video game industry experience and have spent time in a similar role at a developer or publisher.

  • Ensure the smooth and efficient running of the organisation’s finances and accounts
  • Work alongside the Board of Directors to implement new and improve existing organizational strategies, policies and practices
  • Budget development, planning and reporting
  • Produce short & long range forecasts
  • Managing accounts & invoicing system
  • Produce monthly management accounts
  • Liaise with external accountants to produce statutory accounts
  • Submit relevant documents to Companies House (Accounts, Confirmation Statements etc)
  • Streamline purchasing and procurement
  • Coordinating payroll with external payroll services
  • Provide visibility and advice on government tax and grant schemes
  • Ensure the company is GDPR compliant
  • Oversee support services and HR
  • Manage staff benefits and help introduce new programmes
  • Manage HR as the primary liaison for staff
  • Company insurance policies
  • Oversee IT, infrastructure, facilities team and premises management


  • Strong background and work in finance
  • Fluent with Microsoft Excel
  • Expert with other MS office applications including Word, Outlook & PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of VAT, UK tax and other relevant industry government schemes (R&D tax credits, VGTR)
  • Familiar with implementing maintaining HR policies
  • Support new business and fund-raising activities
  • Flexible & happy to wear many hats
  • Excellent communication, people management & leadership skills
  • Self-motivated


  • Relevant experience in the video game industry
  • Good insight into UK law
  • Experience as a Company Secretary or similar
  • Educated to degree level/professional qualifications
